## About

As the eighth and final stage of the Nakdong Art Center's 2026 Signature Classic 'Symphony No. 5 & Choral Series', Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 'Choral' will be performed. This concert offers a moving way to conclude the year by listening to Friedrich Schiller's 'Ode to Joy' live in a choral performance.

Ahead of the 200th anniversary of Beethoven's death in 2027, the Busan Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Oh Chung-keun, takes the stage alongside soprano Park Ha-na, mezzo-soprano Yang Song-mi, tenor Kim Chung-hee, and bass-baritone Samuel Yoon, together with the Busan Civic Choral Society and Chorus Busan. In the first half, Beethoven's 'Egmont' Overture will be performed.

Oh Chung-keun has conducted at prestigious venues such as the Berliner Philharmonie and Musikverein in Vienna, and serves as the artistic director of the Busan Symphony Orchestra. Samuel Yoon was awarded the title of Kammersänger in Germany in 2022 and has performed at major international opera houses including London's Royal Opera House (Covent Garden) and Milan's Teatro alla Scala.

Choong-Keun Oh has made his mark as a Korean conductor on the international stage of the world's great concert halls, the meccas of classical music, including the Berliner Philharmonie, Vienna's Musikverein, Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre and Prague's Smetana Hall. A graduate of Seoul National University and its graduate school and of the Boston Conservatory, he joined the KBS Symphony Orchestra as a first violinist and was then recruited as concertmaster of the Busan Philharmonic Orchestra, the youngest concertmaster in Korea at the age of 25. Bringing philosophical reflection and a strong musical identity to the podium, he has received the 9th KNN Culture Award (2006), the 48th Nanpa Music Award (2016) and Performing Artist of the Year at the 14th Performing Arts Management Awards (2023).
